The Digital Fabrication Laboratory (DFL) is currently welcoming new collaborators through a set of active research grants linked to the R2U Technologies project. These grants offer a unique opportunity to work closely with the DFL team in areas such as modular architecture, sustainability, and digital tools for construction innovation. Researchers will be integrated into the ongoing activities of the lab, contributing to real-world applications, experimental systems, and industry‑oriented outputs. Current open Calls are:
> POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH GRANT (6 months) - Until 05/12
Focus: Evaluation Tool to asses the quality of Modular Construction Projects
Short Description: This grant is open to architects and engineers interested in contributing to the development and validation of a digital evaluation tool for modular construction projects with a focus on sustainable, economic, social and design parameters. The selected researcher will work directly on the technical and scientific coordination of this tool, currently under active development within the R2U Technologies project.

Focus: Integration of Cork-Based Facade Systems in Modular Construction
Short Description: This position is aimed at architects and engineers eager to explore the integration of cork-based facade solutions within a modular construction system developed by the project consortium. The researcher will be involved in the study, prototyping, and performance analysis of these systems, in close collaboration with DFL’s industrial partners.

Focus: Digital Simulations & Product Configurators
Short Description: This grant targets Master’s students in Architecture (holding a Licenciatura in Architecture and currently in their dissertation semester) with an interest in digital design tools, product configurators, and project simulations. The selected student will support ongoing design and communication efforts, producing interactive visualizations and design outputs for modular construction solutions.
