During the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of eCAADe, held at the 43rd International Conference at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey, important elections for the association’s leadership took place. José Pedro Sousa, DFL coordinator and Associate Professor at FAUP was elected Vice-President of the association for the 2025–2027 term. Professor Anetta Kępczyńska-Walczak (Lodz University of Technology, Poland) was elected as the new President of eCAADe, succeeding Professor Aulikki Herneoja (University of Oulu, Finland), who has now taken the role of President Emerita.
José Pedro Sousa, has been a long-time contributor to eCAADe since 2003. Through the Digital Fabrication Lab (DFL) at CEAU/FAUP he has been actively promoting the participation of his research team in eCAADe conferences.
Over the years, he has made significant contributions to the community: he organized the first Regional International Workshop (RIS) in Porto in 2013, titled Future Traditions. Rethinkg the past and envision the future of architecture through the use of digital technologies; co-organized the landmark joint eCAADe-SIGraDi conference in 2019 under the theme Architecture in the Age of the 4th Industrial Revolution; and, since 2022, has coordinated the application process for the World CAAD PhD Workshop within the eCAADe community.
With this new leadership, eCAADe reaffirms its mission to advance education and research in computer-aided architectural design, strengthening its international community and fostering collaboration across Europe and beyond.
